Omar Benzakour is a Full Professor in Cellular Biology. He is a Cell Biology National University Council (CNU 65) member and chaired the scientific expertise commission in Biology (CNU 64-69) of the University of Poitiers from 2014-2022. He was the Director within the University of Poitiers of the Master in Biology Health Sciences from 2012-2018. He contributes to PRODICET research through his expertise in vascular biology, angiogenesis, TAM receptors, and their ligand, the Protein S. He has substantial international professional experience since he worked for two years as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Rochester (NY, USA) and for eight years at the Thrombosis Research Institute, University of London (UK) where he led the “Molecular Cell Biology” team which first described the existence of receptors of the Protein S.
